JoSAA 2018 Registeration


Registrations and choice filling for JoSAA 2018 has commenced on June 15 in online mode. All eligible candidates, who have qualified in JEE Main or JEE Advanced examination have to register for JoSAA 2018 by June 25. Along with registration, the candidates will also have to fill and lock their college and course choices. The list of selected colleges and courses should be according to preference as it will be considered during the seat allocation session. After the seat allotment result is announced, the candidates have to report at a reporting centre for document verification. Only after verification and payment of seat acceptance fees, the candidates will be able to visit their allotted institute for confirmation of admission. Qualified candidates will be eligible for admissions into 97 participating institutes. Over 34,000 undergraduate engineering seats from the participating IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs will be open for all JEE Main and JEE Advanced exam qualified candidates. JoSAA Registration and Choice Filling 2018


All candidates are advised to read the eligibility criteria carefully before registering for JoSAA 2018. After successful registration, the candidates will have to fill in their choice of college and course for admissions. All choices made must be according to their preference as admissions will be provided according to the candidate’s merit and choice. The candidates can follow the given steps to register themselves for JoSAA 2018 and fill their choices.

Step 1 – Registration: To log into their account, the candidates will have to use their JEE Main 2018 roll number and password. In case the candidates have registered for JEE Advanced 2018, then the password of JEE Advanced 2018 has to be used. After registration, the personal details of the candidate will be retrieved from their JEE Main 2018 registration. After checking all of their displayed information, the candidates will be able to move forward for choice filling. Modification of contact information can be done by the candidates.

Step 2 – Filling of Choices: According to the qualification of the candidate, the available choices for admission will be listed out. After selecting the preferred choices, the candidates will be able to modify their order of preference by selecting “Arrange Filled Choices”. The candidates will also be able to rearrange and interchange their preferences.


Step 3 – Locking of Choices: After completing the choice filling process, the candidates will be able to lock their selected choices. After locking the choices, a print out of the selected options has to be taken out for future use.

JoSAA Eligibility Criteria 2018


All of the eligibility criteria of JoSAA 2018 has to be met and satisfied by the candidates for admissions into the participating institutes. JoSAA 2018 does not have any set eligibility criteria, however, for admissions into the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), the candidates will have to meet the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2018. Similarly, for admissions into NITs+System, the candidates will have to satisfy the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2018. If all of the required eligibility criteria are satisfied then the candidates will be termed eligible to participate in the counselling process of JoSAA 2018.

JoSAA Participating Institutes 2018


JoSAA 2018 consists of a total of 97 participating institutes. The candidates will be able to select their choice of college and course from 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 GFTIs as per their eligibility criteria.

JoSAA 2018 Mock Allotment


The first round of mock allotment of JoSAA 2018 will be held when the registration process is going on. Through the mock allotment, the candidates will be able to know which institutes they will are likely to be allotted to. Seeing their mock allotment result, the candidates will be able to make the necessary modifications in their selected choices of colleges and courses. The second round of mock allotment will be conducted in the third week of June 2018. By checking their mock allotment result before the end of registrations, the candidates will get enough time to make the changes required to be allotted to the college and course they wish for.

JoSAA Counselling 2018


To participate in JoSAA 2018 counselling process, the candidates should be successfully registered. After registering themselves, the candidates will also be asked to fill their choice of institute and course according to their preference. After all of the choices are filled, two rounds of mock allotment will be announced to give the candidates an idea regarding their probable allotment based on their current selected choices. Modifications can be made accordingly by the candidates. Allotment of seats will be done based on the merit of the candidates and his/her selected preferences. After the list of allotted candidates are released, the candidates will have to download their allotment letter and pay the seat acceptance fees. After paying the fees, the candidates will have to report at the reporting centres for document verification. Following the successful verification, the candidates will have to report at their allotted institute for confirmation of admission.

JoSAA Seat Allocation 2018


All of the registered candidates will be allocated seats based on their performance in the qualifying examination (JEE Main or JEE Advanced) and selected choice of course and college. After the seat allotment is announced, the candidates will be required to download their provisional allotment letter by submitting their roll number and password. All of the selected candidates will have to pay the seat acceptance fee of Rs. 35,000 after downloading their provisional allotment letter. After the payment is done, the candidates will have to report at their nearest reporting centre for verification. All of the required original documents have to be carried and verified otherwise the allotment may be cancelled.

If the candidates are not happy with their allotted seat, then they will have to option to reject it. Any of the following options offered by JoSAA 2018 has to be selected by the candidates after allotment:
  • Freezing: Candidates accept the allotted seats and do not wish to participate in the further seat allotment rounds.
  • Floating: Candidates accept the offered seat but also indicate that if admissions are open in a better/higher preferred institute or course, then they will accept it.
  • Sliding: The candidates accept the allotted seat by indicate that if admissions are open in a better course in the same institute then they will take it.
Finally, the allotted candidates will have to report at their allotted institutes to confirm their admission by paying the remaining fees.

JoSAA Reporting Centres 2018


The concerned authorities will be responsible for the release of the list of reporting centres of JoSAA 2018. After the seat allotment result is announced, the candidates will have to report to these JoSAA reporting centres 2018 to confirm their allotted seats. All candidates will be required to report to the reporting centres for admissions into the B.Tech seats offered by the participating institutes of JoSAA 2018.
  • All of the candidates will be required to be physically present at the reporting centre for verification of the documents before the time and date specified to get the seat confirmed.
  • It has to be remembered that those candidates who are allotted into NIT, IIEST, IIIT or other GFTIs will have to report only at the reporting centres of the same.
  • Similarly, those candidates who are allotted into IITs will have to report only at reporting centres of IITs.
  • If there is change in the seat allotment of a candidate from NIT+ system to IITs or the other way round, then the candidate will have to be present at the changed institute. If the candidate fails to be present at the changed reporting centre, then the allotted seats will be cancelled.
  • After verifying their documents at the reporting centres, the candidates will have to report at their allotted institute and completed the remaining admission formalities.
